Ischemic Strokes: 80% of stroke victims experience this type. Ischemic stroke is caused by a blood clot either formed on the site, or a blood clot that has traveled from elsewhere. Ischemic strokes sometimes give something called a "mini stroke". This is where you will experience symptoms of a stroke but they do not worsen. This is considered to be a warning sign for a larger stroke.
Hemorrhagic: This type is broken up into two different types. Intracerebral Hemorrhagic: This is a burst in a blood vessel inside of the brain. And Subarachnoid Hemorrhagic: This is a burst in a blood vessel on the surface of the brain.
Both of the Hemorrhagic strokes may be related to head trauma & bleeding disorders.
